Shampoo bottles are easy to recycle. You don't even have to remove the labels! Just place the bottles in a plastic bag and set them aside for at least six months. Then, you can take them to a recycling center without the need for pickup. You may have to call ahead to find out which collection centers are accepting shampoo bottles.

Cylinder bottles with snap-top caps are great for OTC shampoo products. They're made of HDPE, a strong material for thick shampoos. The snap-top caps open and close easily and keep the product clean. Snap-top bottles also come in white or natural hues, which makes them a nice pairing with any color.

Even if you don't throw shampoo bottles into a recycling bin, they are still a big part of our plastic waste problem. More than five hundred million empty shampoo bottles end up in landfills each year. Most of these bottles are made from plastics #1 and #2, so most will be recyclable.
