Can I Recycle Shampoo Bottles?
When you're a regular shampooer, you have a lot of empty bottles lying around in your bathroom. This has made many people wonder if these bottles can be recycled or not.
Recycling plastic bottles is a great way to reduce waste and help the environment. Most shampoo and conditioner bottles are #1 (PETE) or #2 (HDPE) plastic, which can be recycled in most municipal recycling programs.
Some other products that can be recycled are baby wipes, face wash bottles, laundry soap jugs, and bleach and dishwashing liquid jars. Be sure to check with your local municipality for details of their recycling guidelines, though.
Bottles with caps are more difficult to recycle than bottles without caps. Because the caps are thicker, they can't be placed in a recycling bin at the same time as the bottle, so it's important to remove them before putting them in the bin.
